Belle Etoile Necklace
Belle-Etoile means “beautiful star” in French – a fitting name for this blue Agate Tuareg amulet necklace wherein the sparkles of Blue Goldstone are reminiscent of stars in the night sky.
This necklace features a statement Tuareg pendant with blue Agate. Tuareg jewellery is traditionally made from silver, the metal of the Prophet, and more recently local artisans have experimented with incorporating stones into their designs. Not only does this enhance the beauty of their jewellery, but particular stones or colours are also believed to possess certain properties. Blue is said to represent the purity of the sky. The circle is considered to be a symbol of fertility, although the Moroccan shopkeeper whom this pendant was sourced from relayed that the nomadic desert tribes would look through the hole to find the moon to help them navigate their way through the desert at night.
Beautiful beads of Blue Goldstone fan out to form an elaborate collar. This man made gemstone has been around since the European Renaissance. In spite of its name, Goldstone does not actually contain any gold; the golden sparkles are in fact copper, which act as a powerful generator of energy. There are various folklore stories about the origins of Goldstone. Some believe that it was created in the early 1800’s when an Italian monk accidentally spilt copper filings into his molten glass, producing Goldstone. Others believe that alchemists trying to make gold created it. More accurate records document the manufacturing process of Goldstone in the seventeenth-century Venice.
Goldstone possesses many metaphysical properties of copper, including strengthening the circulatory system and bones, and helping to increase blood flow and reduce inflammation. It is considered to be a lucky gemstone and is good for stabilising emotions. It is also associated with wisdom and communication.
This ravishing necklace is completed with a handmade sterling silver clasp, chain and SHIKHAZURI logo bead.
