About Raksha Bandhan
Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi, is the Hindu festival that celebrates brotherhood and love. “Raksha” in Sanskrit means “protection” & “Bandhan” means “to tie”. So Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi refers to a sacred piece of thread tied by the sisters on the brothers’ wrists. The Rakhi represents love and compassion. In return, brothers vow to keep their sisters safe and happy for years to come.
This age old tradition is still widely followed all around the world. Sisters tie a Rakhi on their Brothers, and in turn they shower their sisters with love and gifts on this day.
