Hamsa Sterling Silver Necklace

The Hamsa or khamsa dates back many centuries and represents the divine hand. It is a significant symbol across the Middle East and Northern Africa and has a variety of meanings depending on the culture.

The word Hamsa means “five” in Arabic; it refers to the fingers on the hand and also represents the five sacred rules of various belief systems. In Islam, it symbolises The Hand of Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet Mohammed.

In Judaism, it is identified as the Hand of Miriam, and is represented in the five books of the Torah.
The Hamsa is believed to offer protection against the evil eye, a vengeful stare arising from negative emotions like jealousy, hatred and envy, and believed to cause misfortune or illness.

The power of five fingers is believed to have the same effect as poking the fingers into the evil eye or pronouncing the words “khamsa fi ainek”, meaning “five in your eye”. This symbol also represents happiness, health, power and blessings. Its protective attributes make the Hamsa a popular talisman amongst Western cultures. Wear your Hamsa to repel negative energy and rest assured that all is well.
